Peerless-Electric is currently seeking a self-motivated and highly skilled Mechanical Design technician to work alongside Design & Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing and Production. The primary mandate of this position is to manage various light modified products or special projects, to develop Design drawings & Bill of Material of Engineering based on requirements and to provide technical details for manufacturing.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities
• Provided technical solutions for standard modified products and customized lighting solutions for special projects.
• Develop & create technical part drawings, sub-assemblies and assemblies for simple to complex products and lighting systems
• Create electrical wiring diagrams and installation steps for product instruction sheet construction
• Create Customer’s Engineering shop drawings
• Modify and validate the Engineering Bill of Material in PDM to meet the needs of new specific requirements
• Update the Engineering Bill of Material and Maintain their accuracy level as well as Product Design and Part drawings as necessary
• Support and improve existing products
• Work collaboratively with Engineering + Design Technical support, Sales, Manufacturing and Production
• Hands-on working mock-ups and prototype design construction

Qualifications
• College’s degree in Industrial Design or Mechanical Engineering or related field within 3 years or more of product design / drafting experience
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and fulfill tight delivery schedules
• Strong organizational skills with good team spirit
• Strong technical competence with good problem-solving skills
• Highly analytical and detail-oriented
• Proficient SolidWorks, PDM system & 2D/3D AutoCAD
• Knowledge in manufacturing processes including sheet metal, extrusion, die-casting, plastic or glass, etc.
• Knowledge and understanding of the concept of Bills of Materials and how they are built
• Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop (preferred but not essential)
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and electrical wiring diagrams
• Ability to analyze parts design, assemblies, and production processes
• Experience with LED lighting components and industry is an asset
• Excellent oral/written communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Working knowledge in official language (English or French)
